  Have you made arrangements for your civil funeral?

  it may sound morbid, but have you?.

  it appears that the funeral of a disfellowshipped person would be, that an elder if he feels that there may be some repentence on the behalf of the person that they would give a funeral, but not at the kingdom hall.. this leads me to think what would i want?

  i certainly wouldn't want an elder to give a talk at my funeral.

  Elder stakeouts! Anyone done one / been a victim of one?

  suppose the elders get an anonymous letter or phone call, or even a brave soul tells them that they no "brother so-and-so" is sleeping with "sister suzy q".

  or a believing jw has a "non-scriptural" divorce, and wants proof her ex is sleeping with someone else.

  the elders' manual says the "strong circumstantial evidence, such as evidence that the accused spent all night in the house of someone of the opposite sex who is not his wife or a family member" (paraphrase) can be used as evidence in a judicial case.. to get such "strong circumstantial eveidnce", elders have been known to "stake out" a house, spending all night in a car watching a house.. in all my time as an elder, i was never involved in one of these.

  Tired of the Hypocrisy

  Back in Albuquerque, brother Kikta used to stake out the Pussycat theatre out on Central. It was near the Highland Congo and he was always looking to catch someone in there. I wonder if it was just an excuse to cruise for some male company....LOL He actually did catch this gay guy that was studying. The guy would cruise and then toot someones horn out in the parking lot. When this poor kid was exoposed it made him almost kill himself from the shame of having someone stalk him. I wonder if that crap would get an elder tossed into jail now?

  The kid came back to the hall on a Sunday afternoon and threw confetti all over Kikta during the talk. When we looked closely it was the NWT cut into perfect little one inch squares. That was some focus!

  What's Your View of "Friends"? Are They "Real"???

  the older i get, the more i see that most "friends" are not "real friends".

  i can count on 1 hand who i consider friends.

  i have many enjoyable aquaintances that i socialize with but i doubt they'd really be "there" for you.

  Tired of the Hypocrisy

  Besides my own brother I have been blessed with three guys that I can count on for absolutely anything. One I have known since I was in fourth grade back in 1972, and the others I know about 15 years here in California. Tough times and ugly weather never even slowed any of us down when the others needed help. Like mentioned above, they are rare but they do exist. We are lucky if we have ONE!

  Tired of the Hypocrisy

  I had to hide to have sex with girls from another high school across town while the elders kids were all running around screwing each other. Besides that, my hair length and dress were always an issue along with my choices in music and wall decor (Molly Hatchett posters etc). Smoking cigarettes & pot, and getting drunk was ok for an elder's kid, but if I got seen eating a meal at the American Sandwich Shop with the Red White and Blue banner flying above, my folks got called.

  How Many JW Terms Aren't in the Bible?

  the following youtube video made by a young person who is unbaptized and hopes to become a publisher says that the word "rapture" isn't in the bible.

  a comment on the video says that the words "disfellowship", and "god's organization" aren't in the bible either and that the name jehovah isn't written in the new testament aka greek scriptures.

  can we further enlighten this young person as to how many words jws typically use that aren't in the bible?

  just wondering if you were modest in your attire?

  i know they always preached modesy but always seen a lot of bling, bright & colorful outfits and way overdone makeup and hair styles.

  For the most part, yea. Until I hit my mid 20s then I started to wear off color stuff. Like a dark blue pin-stripe 3-piece suit with a black shirt and a white tie and hanky. Or a red shirt and red tie....The chicks dug me, but I got the wierd eye from my bs conductor...LOL

  ran into a sister at 7-11 today

  well, the confrontation i've been trying to avoid happened this afternoon.

  on my way to my martial arts class with my df'ed brother, i stopped at 7/11.

  while i was at the counter an older sister who was one of my best friends while i was still active walked right behind me but didn't see me.
